RTS 19h30 – Swiss Delegation to the United States: Interview with Thomas Borer
On RTS 19h30 on 27.02.2009, former ambassador Thomas Borer comments on the visit of a Swiss delegation to the United States, sent to defend banking secrecy in the face of pressure from Washington. He considers the delegation insufficient and calls on the government to quickly define a real strategy, with a team capable of negotiating and clearly presenting the Swiss position. In his view, while President Obama and the US authorities are seeking to recover billions of dollars for their taxpayers, Switzerland has strong arguments to defend the value of its banking secrecy but is not explaining them sufficiently.
